How I did it

Premium without the price tag.

Cyprus is two trips in one: beach days on the south coast and a wildly different mountain Cyprus 90 minutes inland. I flew to Larnaca (€90 from Thessaloniki (often via Bucharest)), rented a car for €18/day (drive on the left!), and based myself in Paphos for the beach half and Omodos village for the mountain half. Aphrodite's Rock at sunset is the cliché, but it's a cliché because it's true. In Troodos I ate stuffed vine leaves in a stone tavern for €10, drank Commandaria (Crusader-era wine) and stayed in a restored stone house for €55 a night. Five days, €620 including flights, car and everything.
